The Brighton Residence is a careful addition to a heritage house within a very compact footprint, where spatial clarity becomes essential. All service areas are carefully planned and located, allowing the living spaces to remain open, light-filled, and visually connected to the backyard. This strategic organisation frees the plan from unnecessary partitions, creating a sense of generosity within extremely tight constraints.
The services core is treated as a sculptural element rather than concealed infrastructure. Its form anchors the interior, subtly defining zones within the open-plan living area while maintaining fluid movement around it. This inner object mediates between public and private functions, bringing order without closing space down.
Timber and concrete introduce texture and weight, while white-painted surfaces soften the composition and reflect light deeper into the interior. Together, these elements produce a calm yet expressive living environment, where structure, material, and space work quietly in dialogue with the existing fabric and the garden beyond.
